After expenses scandal Tory frontbencher claims MPs forced to eat “rations” and treated “like shit”

Multi-millionaire Conservative frontbencher Alan Duncan has been forced to make a rapid and humiliating apology after it emerged that he had been secretly filmed complaining about the impact of the expenses scandal.

According to the Evening Standard, the Shadow Commons Leader originally claimed earlier today that his remarks had been meant as a joke, but he later apologised after Tory HQ hit the roof over his gaffe.

“The last thing people want to hear is an MP whingeing about his pay and conditions. “It is a huge honour to be an MP and my remarks, although meant in jest, were completely uncalled for. I apologise for them unreservedly.,” he said.

The senior Tory Alan Duncan had been caught on camera complaining that MPs are treated “like shit” and forced to live on “rations”.

Alan Duncan also claimed that no capable person would want to enter Parliament after the crackdown on allowances in the wake of the expenses scandal.

Labour’s Peter Mandelson said:
“Alan Duncan is very fond of speaking a good game publicly but in private talking and acting quite differently – I’m not surprised he’s been found out.

“He as the shadow leader of the House and has not exactly been helpful … in bringing about the reforms that the government has tried to introduce [over MP's expenses].”
