Ministerial protocol prohibits those in the Labour Government expressing a preference between Barack Obama and John McCain, but make no mistake that Labour members are firmly backing Barack. Conversely Cameron’s Conservatives, despite new found support for Obama as it became apparent that he is likely to lead the USA for the next four years, can’t escape from their history of favouring McCain.
The Tories invited him to speak to the Conservative Party Conference in 2006, and David Cameron unwisely tied himself to McCain and the Republicans earlier this year.
Those who can’t wait for the results of tomorrow’s election, and feel the need for a serious fix of election news, could do worse than going to England for Obama to watch the MSNBC live video stream which started earlier today.
