A special panel from Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has confirmed that Karl Turner will be the Party’s next parliamentary candidate in Hull East.
Mr Turner, 37, is the son of former Labour city councillor Ken Turner, and a Hull-based barrister. He won a selection contest run by the constituency party earlier this year to replace John Prescott, but the NEC needed to confirm the selection because Mr Turner was not on Labour’s list of approved parliamentary candidates.
Mr Turner now has the opportunity to raise his profile in the constituency because the other parties have yet to decide who will challenge him.
