Having silenced David Cameron’s hopes of taking overall control of Reading Borough Council, the local elections have left Councillor Jo Lovelock, the new leader of the Labour Group, with a dilemma. Still the largest Party with 19 Labour members, the administration of the Council was no longer assured however. With eighteen Conservatives and eight Lib Dems potentially in opposition it was clear that some tough politics lie ahead.
The main Party leaders discussed the future running of Reading Borough Council on Tuesday night and, although no formal decision has yet been made, it seems likely the Labour group will form a minority administration.
