Lindsay Roy will fight the Glenrothes by-election for Labour

A headteacher from Gordon Brown’s old school has been chosen as the Labour candidate for the Glenrothes by-election.

Lindsay Roy, 59, was one of three contenders vying to fight the seat for Labour which was left vacant by the death of Labour MP John MacDougall.

Mr Roy became rector at Mr Brown’s old school, Kirkcaldy High School in Fife, earlier this year.
