As the debate about the proposal to introduce congestion charging for Manchester hots up, the local Lib Dem MP, John Leech, is keeping a low profile whilst looking both ways, as Tom Miller reports:
“Leech correctly wants the vital transport award, but without having to find someone to pay for it! How predictable. How Lib Dem. Perhaps the money will appear by magic?
And what about Manchester’s congestion levels in themselves, John? And aren’t the Lib Dems meant to be huggable and environmentally friendly?
You might disagree with congestion charging. But at least with Lucy Powell, you have someone who lays it straight. If you want the congestion charge issue laid straight, why not check out Lucy’s exposition of some of the myths being put around by the car-park tycoons running the no campaign…”
