Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust strategy ‘reaches out and grabs the future’

The draft strategy from Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, ‘reaches out and grabs the future’ said Jude Robinson, Labour PPC for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, following publication of the documents yesterday.

“This is a strategy that reaches out and grabs the future. It strengthens many of the services in the west of Cornwall but I am also very pleased at the aim to provide more services to the east of Truro. That will help counter further ‘drift’ towards Derriford, which could undermine Cornwall’s NHS in the future.

“St Michael’s Hayle will continue its excellent work in breast cancer treatment and orthopaedics and there are also bold plans to redevelop the Treliske site to make it a 21st century centre for NHS care.

“The Labour Party in Cornwall will be looking in detail at the plans and forming a considered response but we are all agreed this is a time for constructive debate, working together for a common purpose – the best healthcare services for Cornwall.

“We all welcome the opportunity to take part in this.”
