Angela Smith MP supports Campaign for High Speed Rail

Angela Smith, Member of Parliament for Penistone and Stocksbridge, this week joined a rally in Westminster supporting the Yes to High Speed Rail campaign.

Commenting on their support for the campaign Angela Smith said: “I am passionate about supporting high-speed rail and urge everyone in Penistone and Stocksbridge to do the same. High speed rail will significantly help Britain’s economy; creating jobs and boosting Penistone and Stocksbridge. The knock-on effect of a true nationwide high-speed rail link will be huge bringing jobs and investment to millions.”

Professor David Begg, Director of Yes to High Speed Rail agreed with Angela Smith by saying: “It is fantastic to have the support of Angela Smith. Building a new high-speed rail line can be a part of solving some of the big questions facing this country today and in the future. This is why businesses and unions joined MPs from all parties today in London to campaign for high-speed rail.”

The rally was part of an on-going nationwide tour of the UK being undertaken by the Yes to High Speed Rail campaign bus highlighting the benefits to the country of the positive impact of high-speed rail – for jobs, investment, growth and a better quality of life.

The campaign bus has visited Manchester, Birmingham as well as London and is scheduled to be the centre-piece of further rallies in Leeds, Sheffield and other cities in the North West, North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands.
