Labour’s candidate for Sheffield Hallam has criticised the Lib Dem MP for Sheffield Hallam for being ‘part-time’.
Recently published figures show how often MPs vote on crucial bills. The Yorkshire and Humberside average was 64%, but Nick Clegg voted in only 34% of divisions, meaning he was absent for two-thirds of votes – the worst attendance of any South Yorkshire MP.
Meg Mun, Clive Betts, Richard Caborn and Angela Smith all have voting records more than DOUBLE Nick Clegg’s.
Commenting on the results, Jack Scott, who is hoping to take the seat for Labour, said:
“We have known for a long time that being a good constituency MP is not a priority for Nick Clegg. He has always been more interested in cosying up to the Tories. Now we also know that voting on crucial new laws is not a priority for him either.”
“Quite frankly, it is amazing that he has the cheek to claim all his expenses and take an MPR17;s full salary despite only bothering to turn up for a third of votes. Nick Clegg represents terrible value for money for Hallam tax-payers. It is time we had an MP who will put Hallam first, rather than his own ambitions.”
Voting attendance – all Divisions:
Munn, Meg 82%
Betts, Clive 81%
Blunkett, David 53%
Caborn, Richard 67%
Smith, Angela C. 72%
Clegg, Nick 34%
