Sheffield Labour has teamed up with residents around Osgathorpe Road in Burngreave to demand action be taken by the Lib Dem Council on faulty street lighting in the area.
Lighting went off again around Osgathorpe Road last week and the fault has still not been fixed. This has become an all too regular occurrence for local residents over the past few months and the Lib Dem Council have not managed to put a stop to it.
Labour Councillor for Burngreave, Ibrar Hussain, said:
“There is something very wrong with the street lights around Osgathorpe Road because they consistently seem to stop working. It’s now time to say enough is enough and demand that the Lib Dem Council deal with this urgently.
“Residents are fed up with no street lighting – what do they pay their council tax for? Without street lights, the area is plunged into darkness at night, causing a lot of residents to feel especially vulnerable. Residents should not have to put up with this.”
Ibrar added:
“I hope for residents’ sake that the street lights will be back on as soon as possible and that the underlying problem of why these street lights repeatedly fail to work will be thoroughly investigated by the Lib Dem Council.”
