Paul Blomfield, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sheffield Central, has reacted to the news that Sheffield Council has agreed to consult on the closure of Abbeydale Grange secondary school.
Mr Blomfield said:
“It’s regrettable that the decision to consult on closure for Abbeydale Grange has been made without considering the requests of parents for all options to be looked at.
“In particular it’s unfortunate the Council was so quick to rule out a soft federation with another school. Closing a school is a serious decision for the children, parents, staff and the wider community and one that should only be taken after thorough exploration of all the issues. Like many of the parents I don’t feel this has been done.”
