Hilary Benn MP, Labour’s Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, today announced details of Labour’s review into making Parliament work for people.
Launching the policy review, Hilary Benn MP said: “We’ve got to change the way we do our politics. People expect more from politicians, and politicians know they have to find different ways to involve people in the decisions they make. So this policy review will not just look at how we can rebuild Parliament as a modern, accessible institution. It will also consider how and where power in our country rests at the moment and where it should rest.
“We will work with all those who have ideas on how to modernise our constitution – elected representatives and campaigners; new media pioneers and the academics; people in local government; and people from communities. While this Tory-led Government changes the constitution for a partisan political fix, this policy review will work to come up with a new way forward for our politics that we will rebuild trust.”
