Cameron should come clean on where the cuts will fall - Cooper
Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Chief Secretary to the Treasury, responding to David Cameron’s comments on the Andrew Marr show and launching a Labour analysis of Cameron’s cuts plans, has said:
“David Cameron still can’t tell people what he would cut during a recession. His proposals are economic madness - cutting training budgets, housing and transport investment plans and help for people to get jobs just at a time when they need it most.
“He wants to cut £5bn in just three months’ time but all he can point to is ID cards and the advertising budget - yet he has already committed to spending that money before. Cameron should come clean on where his cuts to support for jobs and the economy now will fall.
“Every major government in the world is backing action and investment to support the economy. Only the British Conservatives are against it. Their approach would be devastating for the British economy. It was bad enough when they just wanted to do nothing. Now they are proposing to make things even worse.”
