“Cameron’s first priority is to help the wealthiest few” – Balls

Ed Balls, Children, Schools and Families Secretary, responding to David Cameron’s commitment to prioritise tax cuts for the wealthiest few instead of public services, said:

“Once again we see where David Cameron’s priorities lie and whose side he is really on.

“This morning the Tory leader confirmed that even in these difficult times his first priority is not to help people who’ve lost their jobs or are worried about paying their mortgage but to give a massive tax cut to the wealthiest few estates.

“Instead of investing in public services, David Cameron remains committed to giving more money first to millionaires.

“Instead of supporting action to give real help now to every family, the Conservatives do nothing, refuse to support our action and instead make public spending cuts to pay for tax cuts for the few their first priority.”
