Yvette Cooper MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, speaking on the launch of the Labour Party’s child care commission said:
“Child care costs have gone up. Sure Starts and tax credits are being cut. And the result is that thousands of women are finding it impossible to work.
“That’s a nightmare for them and for the economy – the government’s blind spot on women is letting families down. But Labour won’t rest at campaigning against Tory government plans.
“Child care will be a key priority for supporting economic growth as well as helping families for the future and that’s why this Commission is so important.”
