Geoff Hoon MP, Labour’s Secretary of State for Transport, today wrote to his shadow counterpart, Theresa Villiers, asking her to make clear where the Tories’ proposed £840m cuts in the Department of Transport budget would fall.
He said:
“Unless the Conservatives can tell us exactly where the cuts will fall, no major transport project is safe.
“Labour are determined to invest in our economy and our infrastructure so that we come through the downturn stronger and sooner.
“David Cameron would do nothing to help families and small businesses. Instead, just as in the past, the Conservatives’ cuts would leave Britain in a longer and deeper recession.”
