AM welcomes new jobs for local people at RYAG

Ann Jones AM has once again visited Rhyl Youth Action Group’s (RYAG) new facility ‘The Hub’ to find out how the group are using new projects and Assembly investment to offer local people new job opportunities.

As a beneficiary of Rhyl City Strategy’s Future Jobs Fund and the Assembly led Strategic Regeneration Area (SRA), RYAG has successfully created work for local businesses and individuals in Denbighshire.

The bulk of the work will rely on a mass of local labour to re-build the Youth Café and other buildings whilst more than 30 people will be taken on over the next year or so in roles ranging from administration to youth work.

Both Ann Jones and local MP, Chris Ruane who chairs the Rhyl City Strategy, have supported RYAG’s efforts to engage young people into community projects and learning.

Vale of Clwyd AM, Ann Jones said:

“I never fail to be impressed with the work that goes on in RYAG – they really do capture the spirit of regeneration that must greet the multi-million investment from the Labour-led Assembly Government.

“RYAG has used this investment in a simple but effective way, ensuring that local people benefit from new jobs and prospects.

“I look forward to seeing these projects grow and will update the new First Minister on RYAG’s work as I did Rhodri.”

RYAG’ Projects Manager, Shane Owen said:

“The tireless efforts of the Welsh Assembly Government SRA and Rhyl City Strategy have been key to the developments our group has been able to make and our future financial stability.

“We are extremely excited to be a part of the Future Jobs Programme and the much needed employment for local young people over the next 18 months will be warmly welcomed.”
