Alun Davies AM, a Labour member of the Assembly’s Finance committee, responding to today’s budget and strategic capital investment announcement said:
“The announcements made today by the Finance Minister Andrew Davies clearly demonstrates that this Labour-led Assembly Government is acting now to help the people of Wales through difficult times in the fairest way possible.
“The final budget announced today takes spending on Wales’ public services from £7bn in 1999/00 to over £16bn in 2010-11. This shows the level of investment the Labour governments both here in Wales and in Westminster have made in Wales over the course of the last eleven years.
“Working with our Labour colleagues in Westminster, we are making sure that the £350m that is being released from the strategic capital investment fund is being used in the most effective way possible to help sustain jobs, further improve public services and regenerate our communities.”
