Labour calls for inquiry into bogus Westminster parking tickets

Westminster Labour Councillors have called for a full independent inquiry following newspaper revelations that the Council’s parking wardens have been caught wrongly issuing tickets to legally parked cars and then faking photographs as back-up “proof”.

Both the City Council and the company employing the wardens, NCP Services, admitted tickets were wrongly issued and said the attendants had been removed from duty pending an investigation.

Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Leader of the Labour Group, said:

“The Council rakes in millions of pounds a week from parking fines and, as the current controversy over motorbike parking charges clearly shows, there is massive distrust of the way in which the Council’s parking policies operate.”
