Westminster’s Labour Councillors have found further evidence that the City Council’s 1,000% increase in court licence fees for the three independent Paddington Recreation Ground tennis coaches is way above the fees charged by neighbouring Councils.
Labour say that Hammersmith and Fulham Council charges £200 a year for tennis coaches using the Bishops Park tennis courts and Wandsworth Council charges tennis coaches just £60 a year for using the Battersea Park courts. Earlier this year Westminster Conservatives increased the fees for the tennis coaches using Paddington Rec tennis courts from £86 a month to £1,000 a month.
Last week it was revealed that charges for tennis coaches using Holland Park are charged a maximum of £153 a month in the peak season by Kensington and Chelsea Council.
Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Leader of the Labour Group said:
“We now have further evidence to show that Westminster Conservatives are totally unjustified in imposing these sky-high and business-wrecking increases in charges. The Council needs to look at this afresh and come up with new figures which will enable the three independent tennis coaches to continue their work and for local residents to continue to receive the coaching from the people they chose.”
