Labour Councillor Barbara Grahame has sent us an anecdote which gives an interesting insight into the priorities of Westminster Conservative Councillors:
“On 26th November I went on the ‘Empty Property Tour’ organized by the council’s Housing Directorate, which was really interesting, looked at roofless Freshwater mews properties, an abandoned colonnaded terrace in Sussex Gardens, and a former brothel in Soho. Officers had put real effort in planning the afternoon and we travelled on a reconditioned routemaster belonging to a group of councils. The embarrassing problem was, I was the only councillor there!
By contrast on 20th November I went on a British Casino Association visit to Crockfords, the Rendezvous Casino and London Victoria Casino, together with Alan Bradley, Nick Evans, Angela Hooper, Robert Davis, Michael Brahams, Ian Rowley, Audrey Lewis, Susie Burbridge and a planning officer (he and I didn’t join the buffet and wine at the end).”
