Westminster Labour Councillors have announced their team to scrutinise the impact of Westminster Council’s policies and decisions for the coming year after securing two places on each of the four new Policy and Scrutiny Committees. Labour’s team is:
Adult Services and Health Policy and Scrutiny Committee – Councillors Barrie Taylor and Adam Hug
Children and Community Services Policy and Scrutiny Committee – Councillors Ruth Bush and Papya Qureshi
Environment Policy and Scrutiny Committee – Councillors Barbara Grahame and Nilavra Mukerji
Housing, Finance and Customer Services Policy and Scrutiny Committee – Councillors Paul Dimoldenberg and Guthrie McKie
Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Leader of the Labour Group, said; “Scrutiny is a vital job and Labour Councillors will be very active on all four of these new Committees in order to ensure that the impact of the Council’s cuts in services and jobs is fully documented and made public. Our campaigning in the community has already ensured that the unpopular West End parking charge proposals were axed earlier this year and we will continue to work closely with residents and local groups to put the spotlight on any further attempts by the Council to add unnecessary costs to residents and businesses. We will also be looking closely at the Council’s spending plans to ensure value for money.”
