Westminster’s Labour Councillors this week handed in a 300 signature petition to the Council from local residents and users of the tennis courts in Paddington Recreation Ground who are protesting at the Council’s introduction of new contracts which has effectively forced out three long-standing and much appreciated independent tennis coaches, Bradley Roberts, Eduardo Caffarena and Nicolas Marinopouos.
Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Leader of the Labour Group, said:
“Westminster’s high-handed and incomprehensible action means that three excellent tennis coaches have been forced out of Paddington Rec, despite them having the support of local residents and tennis players. It is shameful that the three Conservative Maida Vale Councillors have refused to support these long-standing and much appreciated tennis coaches. There should be a full inquiry into what has been going on behind the scenes in the Council and at Paddington Rec to explain this disgraceful situation.
“The Council has been inundated with letters and emails from unhappy tennis court users who are disgusted at the way in which the three tennis coaches have been treated by the Council. So far, with typical arrogance, the Conservatives have ignored the pleas of local residents to reinstate the three tennis coaches.”
