Westminster Labour launch priorities for Queen’s Park ward

Labour’s Team for Queen’s Park Ward – Councillors Paul Dimoldenberg, Patricia McAllister and Barrie Taylor – have launched their five priorities for May’s elections:

Bringing Empty Houses Back Into Use – “Overcrowded housing is simply intolerable in the 21st century and we will continue our fight to get City West Homes and Housing Associations to renovate their empty properties in Queen’s Park as quickly as possible, freeing up empty properties for local people. We will continue to urge the Council to do repairs quicker across the ward, particularly at Queen’s Park Court, the Mozart and Avenue Gardens where the broken gates continue to cause problems for residents.”, says Councillor Patricia McAllister.

Making Kilburn Lane/Harrow Road/Ladbroke Grove Junction Safer – “Following the recent accident, we are continuing our campaign to get a pedestrian phase on the traffic lights at this very busy and dangerous junction so that residents can cross the road safely. We are started the ‘20 is Plenty’ campaign to reduce the traffic speed limit to 20mph in Queen’s Park’s residential roads and we are delighted that so many residents have signed the petition.”, commented Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg.

Tackling Crime and Anti-social Behaviour in Queen’s Park – “The Council needs to do more to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Queen’s Park. We will continue our campaign for CCTV cameras to be located at three “hotspots” – at the Ilbert Street and Kilburn Lane junction, along Dart Street and at the corner of Third Avenue and Droop Street – and will continue to work closely with Sgt Stuart Marshall and the Police Safer Neighbourhood Team to address antisocial behaviour as soon as it is reported”, says Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg

A Greener Queen’s Park – “We have secured extra litter bins for Queen’s Park and will continue to campaign for more recycling facilities. Many residents have complained to us about the state of our pavements and roads and we pledge to force the council to take speedy action to repair broken paths, potholes and streetlights. We have also supported ‘responsible dog ownership’ classes and have called for tough action against irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to foul the pavement”, says Councillor Barrie Taylor.

More for Young People in Queen’s Park – “Our three local primary schools – Wilberforce, Queen’s Park and St Luke’s – give our youngsters a good start in life and we will continue to support their efforts. We have supported projects aimed at improving facilities for teenagers in Queen’s Park by spending some of our ward budget on local facilities, including sports sessions on Sundays at the Moberly Centre and activities at The Avenues”, says Councillor Barrie Taylor.
